update on Miss Attitude - I mean Abby
First of all I want to thank everyone for all of the prayers. Keep them coming, we're far from out of the woods.
On a positive note, Abby is trying to breathe on her own some so they have been able to reduce the ventilator from 35 to 20.
Also, our Miss Abbigail has *****!! First she smacked her daddy's finger when he reached into her isolette as they were wheeling her from the operating room. They stopped just long enough for us to get a look and let Brian put his hand in to touch her. Then, yesterday, when her nurse was cleaning off areas to reattach her leads after applying moisturizer she was throwing a major hissy fit. Even though she can't cry due to the ventilator tube in her throat, you could tell she was ticked!
She also had her first poo! Brian said it looked like a mouse (you know)...the nurse said it was more like a mouse smear. LOL
I will try to post some pics later. Bill got some good ones yesterday because they had her under lights for jaundice so he had great light for pictures.
The heart is still a major issue. They say Abby needs to gain 500 grams, or half her birth weight, before they can schedule the first surgery. In the meantime, the longer she is on the medication, the greater the risk of complications from side effects of the meds.
A pound may not seem like much to us but for someone who only weighs 2 lbs it is a huge amount. It could take her more than a month or 2 to gain that 500 grams.
So, continue to pray and we will continue to trust God to take care of our Abbigail.
